Kenaz Training – Leadership and Management Development
Did you know that the Department for Business Innovation and Skills published a paper in July 2012 on ‘Leadership and Management in the UK, the key to sustainable growth’? If you are a business owner, a key decision maker, or even a employee who wants to make a positive difference, the research findings might concern you:
- Ineffective management is estimated to be costing UK businesses over £19billion per year in lost working hours.
- 43% of UK managers rate their own line manager as ineffective – and only one in five are qualified.
- Nearly three quarters of organisations in England reported a deficit of management and leadership skills in 2012. This deficit is contributing to our productivity gap with countries like the US, Germany and Japan.
- Incompetence or bad management of company directors causes 56 % of corporate failures.
There is some good news however, the paper goes on to tell us that best-practice management development can result in a 23% increase in organisational performance, effective management can significantly improve levels of employee engagement, and that a single point improvement in management practices (rated on a five-point scale) is associated with the same increase in output as a 25% increase in the labour force or a 65% percent increase in invested capital.
This is where we can help.

Why Study and Develop Leadership and Management?
The ability to lead is often what sets people apart, and it is widely recognised that good leaders can better motivate and lead a team towards successful completion of a task. Any organisation that is serious about getting ahead in their sector should have a good leadership development strategy aimed at staff at all levels, from the shop floor to the board room.
The importance of leadership in an organisation can be evidenced by the fact it has been studied for thousands of years. The last century has seen a vast amount of academic leadership research and many theories have been presented and argued against. We believe that leadership is something that can be developed and that understanding and applying some of the principles of leadership everyday can lead to a fuller and more successful life. Anyone can be a leader, some people choose not to be, and some people in management positions have not really been exposed to the good leadership development training that can make a difference to them and their organisation.
Whether you are aspiring or developing as a leader we have development courses to suit. Please get in touch, even just for a friendly chat.
